Sweet Lilac

This is part one of a two part makeover post! 

A client of mine found two matching nightstands off of Craig's List and quickly requested a makeover on both. Here's how they looked when she first picked them up {sorry for the blurry phone pic!}. . .

One is going in her new baby girl's nursery {new as in - baby will join the fam in August} and the other is going in big sis's new 'big girl' room.  FUN!

For the nursery nightstand, my client requested purple.  We selected the most beautiful paint color, one of Annie Sloan's - it's called Emile.   It's my first time painting with it, and although I likely wont be using the color in my own home {remember, I have my husband, two little boys & one more little guy on the way and a male dog}, I'd love to paint with this color again.  It turned out to be the softest, most subtle purple - so feminine and girly - lilac beautiful.

Love the hardware as much as I do? It's from World Market- which means quality at a great price!

Bold.Green.Table

Let me start off this post by saying, holy HOT!  I'm glad I'm inside taking photos today and not outside painting - it's 95 degrees and humid, certainly not ideal painting temps!

I just wrapped up a fun custom project. A client of mine recently dropped off a pine side table. It was one of those 'build it yourself' kits.  It was gifted to her by a family member - and with the right paint, she thought it could make the perfect entryway table for her new home.

She requested Annie Sloan's Antibes Green paint.  Such a bold statement color!  We decided to pair it with some old white accents and generous amounts of distressing & dark wax.  The combination gave it the aged look we were going for.  And I love the new hardware she found from Anthropology!

This little table is going up against a navy blue wall in her entryway - talk about a BIG statement - such a fun way to greet your visitors!

Chalkboard Fun!

Not sure what to do with an old, antique mirror?  Turn it into a fun chalkboard!  This mirror was the perfect candidate since it had age spots on the glass.  It's now useful again! 

Dresser & Mirror Set

It's a blogging kind of night I guess, here is another quick project update!

This dresser & mirror combo is a beautiful, well-built piece of furniture. It came with the original casters and hardware and every part about it is in great shape. Beauty!

A new client of mine decided to reserve it. She requested we paint it in Old White and spray the hardware an oil rubbed bronze color.  I then distressed as needed.  It's going in her daughter's room.  Such a darling piece of furniture, perfect for a sweet girl!

Red Stripes :: Dresser Makeover

I'm excited to show off this fun before & after makeover project!  

We found this older dresser at a thrift store a month or so ago.  It's an older piece that most certainly had seen better days. 

Luckily we could see beyond its dirt, grime and out-of-date style.  

Here is the before picture:

We decided to paint it Old White and add two fun red stripes to give it a pop of color.  I distressed the entire thing which, if you ask me, adds some fun character.  As for the top, I left it unpainted, however, to make it look a bit more aged I sanded it down and painted a watery white wash mixture on top, wiping off the extras.  I love how the paint gets inside all of the groves and blemishes, really making it look worn.  I then topped her off with some dark wax, followed by some clear wax . . . and called it a day.  

I'm a sucker for all things white and red - so I really love how this turned out!

Antique Dresser :: Changing Table

A client of mine is expecting her first baby (BOY!) in a few weeks. She's been on the hunt for a changing table for his nursery.  Her search is now officially over.  She decided on this antique dresser that I had listed on the Coming Soon page of my site.

It's a well-built, solid piece of furniture - still in great shape. 
She requested Pure White with some distressing. 

Here is how it looks now, her new little man's changing table.  I love how it's a piece that can grow with him for years to come.

Primer Red Buffet

Here is a quick before and after post, pictures-only kind of style.  I'm running low on blogging time this week!

Gorgeous Graphite

Oh how I love this color. Graphite. It's not a color I'd naturally choose to decorate with - I'm more of a white-trim, white furniture, white everything kind a gal. However, everytime I paint with Graphite, I fall in love all over again.

This fun piece will be used as an entertainment center in my client's home.  She opted for no hardware and clean lines. The piece has built in hand grips underneath each shelf, so it's perfect just as it is!  I love the simplicity about it. It's certainly a statement piece.
