Lane Cedar Chest :: custom project

 A client of mine dropped off this Lane Cedar chest.  It's in excellent condition, just needed a bit of a makeover.  I love pieces like this - they are so versatile.  We actually have two in our house. One is in our living room under a big picture window and it serves as a place to sit and store the kids toys . . . and the other is in our entryway.  However, I love a chest at the foot of a bed, storing linens and pillows - and that's exactly where my client is putting hers. 

Here is how it looked when she brought it over:

She requested the chest be painted Old White and distressed as needed.  We decided to remove the decorative hardware.  The pulls were a bit dated and since they weren't serving an actual purpose, we filled in the holes and painted right over them. I love the clean, classic lines. 

I love how it turned out, such a perfect addition for a bedroom.

Wood Paddle Makeover

I'm in the beginning stages of a room makeover, a bedroom makeover for two of my boys.  We live in a small 3 bedroom lake home - and with another baby boy on the way, we need to make room for our newest family addition.  Two of my boys will be 'bunking' up - and my pregnant self has been nesting all over again.  I want to create a really special, shared bedroom space, and my how the creative juices have been a flowin' lately!  My vision consists of white planked cottage style walls, navy and white bedding, nautical decor and painted furniture.  We'll see how it all comes together - I plan to post updates along the way! 

We're still more than a few weeks out for some of the major changes, but here is one quick project I tackled this weekend.  We had a wood paddle that wasn't being used so I decided to spruce it up a bit. I'm a big fan of red and white lately - so I painted and distressed it in those colors.  I think it will make a darling wall accent piece for their new bedroom.

I'm happy with how it turned out!

Little Black Side Table

This is actually a vintage sewing cabinet. The top flips up and open to reveal a storage area and then it has two working drawers underneath. Just darling!

Classic Beauty

We found this dresser at a local thrift shop.  I was instantly attracted to its shape and unique details - oh.the.potential! I couldn't wait to get my hands on it!  :)

A new client of mine reserved it, requested a classic black and found the most perfect hardware for it.
Her vision was absolutely perfect . . .

The mercury glass hardware is simply stunning and it turns this classic beauty into more of a statement piece.  I've said this before and I'll say it again - I'm not a huge fan of black furniture - but this is one piece I'd gladly keep in my own home!
