Entryway Cabinet

Here is a quick before & after for you to check out!
A new client of mine brought over this piece, she's using it as an entryway cabinet ...

We decided on Annie Sloan Duck Egg, distressing and dark wax.  The top was a bit beat up so I sanded it down, re-stained and then actually did a whitewash treatment on it to give it that beautiful aged look.

Here is how her guests will now be greeted when they stop over for a visit!

Duck Egg never disappoints.   :)

Black & White Glamour!

My dear friend Alia, of Alia Morgan Photography is crazy talented.  She recently took newborn photos of my little Grayson and they turned out fantastic, like, I love them all.

She was recently gifted an antique buffet that's been in her husband's family for quite some time.  So, like all good friends would do - we bartered services.  She takes pictures of my new little man ... and I paint furniture for her. Who doesn't love a good trade?!

We went back and forth on colors and ideas until we finally decided on a black and Annie Sloan's Old White color combo. Such a unexpected color choice and I love everything about it!

Here is how it turned out ...

Simply beautiful.

And ... I'll leave you with a few of the lovely photos she took of our Grayson.

Again, simply beautiful.  Make sure to visit her website and her facebook page!

Statement Dresser

Every room needs a statement piece of furniture.  My client's bedroom will now have one.
Here is a dresser we just finished up for her.  Painted in Annie Sloan's Pure White - with a surprise pop of color inside the door. Lovely!

For those interested, here is how the dresser looked when I found it at Good Will!

Antique Accent Table

Sometimes it's the smaller pieces of furniture that make the biggest statement in a room.
A new client dropped off this table.  It's such a unique, fun piece with so much detail and character.  It used to be her grandfathers.  With a little paint, distressing and wax - we updated the look so she can now proudly showcase it in her new home.

I love success stories like this - they melt my heart and make me love what I do even that much more.   :)

Kitchen Makeover

This post isn't about furniture, but it IS a makeover project that involves painting, so I thought I'd share.  We moved into our little lake cottage five & half years ago.  Ever since the keys were turned over to us, we have been busy updating our house, room by room.  The entire place was dated and run down.  However, we bought our house for the lake property it sits on - so with that as our motivation to keep us going, we've been updating ever since.  It really is quite the transformation when you look back at our original photos.

Here is how our kitchen looked on day one:

As soon as we moved in, we replaced the flooring, painted the walls and the cabinets.  We then continued on with other random updates - new sink & faucet, installed a dishwasher, added under-counter lighting.  All in all, it was a quick fix that could hold us over for a few years. We finally got around to replacing the counter tops and backslash   While there are still things on our kitchen wish list {new appliances!}, we're finally happy in love with how it looks.

I hope these before and after pictures motivate you to pick up a paint brush!  Really, it's amazing what a coat of paint can do!

Oar Decor!

Do you remember this wood oar that I painted not too long ago for my boys' new bedroom?

Well, it caught the attention of one of my good friends.  She requested I paint a wood oar for her son's new big boy bedroom.  We decided on yellow, white and a touch of blue.

Here's how it turned out!

Just darling!  Such a fun accent piece for his bedroom wall.

We were inspired by these (from Pottery Barn Kids) - but my painted version came in at only a fraction of the price!  Who doesn't love a thrifty savings?!
